Digital Journaling
When fatigue hits, how do you keep the creative energy flowing?
I’ve recently started digital journaling via voice memos at the end of my writing sessions. As a dad of two with a 9-5, my writing sessions often get condensed into 60-90 minutes after bedtime between 8-10pm, and candidly, I get tired near the end. I usually still have ideas to run after though! So, I record a voice memo to myself with some breadcrumbs for the next session. Things like:
- a melodic idea
- automation notes
- or a sound to experiment with
The next time I’m at my desk, I can listen and pick up right where I left off. While this might seem simple, it allows my creative energy to be distributed over multiple days and helps protect the idea and get me right into composing again.
Currently, I’m working on an upbeat classical pop tune loosely titled Imagination. Take a listen to some of my late night thoughts at the end of a writing session.

What’s your process like? How do you distribute your creative energy when feeling tired? How do you not lose track of an idea?
