I’m starting to hit the production phase of this solo piano track and really leaning into treating the effects bus like a second instrument. Integrating some automation on the delay introduction as well as panning portions of the piano has created the illusion of three pianos playing together, all while still being played by just two hands. This phase is such a fun time of experimentation as the piece is locked, composition has ended, and we’re looking for ways to add some tasty ear candy to the mix and ensure the final project matches our initial vision. Solo piano, yes, but with some playful delays and reverbs that expand and contract the scope, size, and space of the piano as the piece develops.
